The 2011/12 season will present La Belle choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot, director of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Danza Contemporánea de Cuba with creations by Mats Ek, Bonachela and Céspedes, a Russian Ballet Gala to commemorate the Year of Russia in Spain and Year of Spain in Russia and Les Ballets C de la B with C(h)oerus, an Alain Plate project.

The Loewe Foundation began its dance sponsorship at the Teatro Real during the 2007/8 season; the Nederlands Dans Theater performed choreographies by Paul Lightfoot and the Spaniard Sol León along with creations by Jirí Kyllián himself, while the Béjart Ballet of Lausanne performed Zarathoustra: Le chant de la danse shortly after the death of the French choreographer. The Ballet Nacional de España took to the stage with José Antonio’s El Café de Chinitas and a Gala in honour of the ballerina Maya Plissetskaya rounded off the program.

The 2008-09 season opened with strong support for the recently formed Corella Ballet Castilla y León which, for the first time, brought to a Spanish stage the production of La Bayadère with Natalia Makarova’s version; as well as the Stuttgart Ballet with John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet, the Víctor Ullate Ballet de la Comunidad de Madrid celebrated there its 20th anniversary with the show 2 You Maestro, and once again the season ended with a Gala of Stars from the Bolshoi y Mariinsky Theatre Ballets.

The Zurich Ballet with Spoerli’s Goldberg Variations opened the 2009-10 season, that also included La Compañía de la Fundación Antonio Gades –which performed all of the choreographer’s works- and the Novosibirsk Opera Ballet, whose Swan Lake was performed by the guest dancers Olesya Novikova and Leonid Sarafanov.
