Loewe Foundation International Poetry Prize

In 1988 the LOEWE Foundation set up the Loewe Foundation International Poetry Prize to promote quality in poetic creation in Spanish at a time when poetry was the most neglected of the literary arts in Spain. Backed by an exceptional jury, the award has since become the most important non-institutional prize of its kind and a highlight on the international cultural calendar.

Every year the Foundation awards a prize to an unpublished work of at least 300 verses and presents a Young Poets Prize to a poet aged under 30, both of which are then published by Visor Libros.

José Ramón Ripoll (Spain) and Sergio García Zamora (Cuba) are the winners of the 2016 Loewe Poetry Prize and of the Loewe Young Poets Prize, respectively.
