Welcome to LOEWE

Founded in Madrid in 1846, LOEWE is the second-oldest luxury fashion house in the world. From our beginnings as a small leather workshop to becoming a global creative force, our journey has been defined by an obsessive focus on craft and an unmatched expertise in leather. At our main atelier in Madrid, our artisans combine this deep-rooted knowledge with new technologies, material experimentation, and innovative ways of thinking.

Our commitment to craft

Since our story began as a small workshop on Calle Lobo in Madrid, LOEWE has honoured the art of craft — cherishing, championing, and reimagining artisanal techniques. With skills and knowledge passed down across almost two centuries, craft is at the core of every LOEWE collection and a throughline for all our creations, from our shows to our CASAs to the annual LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize.

Our creative directors

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have been at the helm of all LOEWE collections since 2025. Working together for the past two decades, the designers’ practice is rooted in a rigorous exploration of craft filtered through an artistic sensibility and an ongoing dialogue with contemporary culture. Under their creative direction, LOEWE opens a new chapter anchored in an intellectual and playful approach to craft, the sensual energy of Spanish lifestyle, and LOEWE’s unmatched leather.

How to say our name

Our name dates back to 1872, when German merchant Enrique Loewe Roessberg acquired the small leather workshop in Madrid and gave it his name. We became a Spanish house with a German name and a Spanish pronunciation: lo-weh-vay. Easy to say when you know how, tricky when you don’t.
