LOEWE Chairs

LOEWE returns to Salone del Mobile with a collection of chairs reimagined by artisans to become one-of-a-kind items.

The selling exhibition will be staged from April 17-23 in the courtyard of Palazzo Isimbardi, Corso Monforte, 35, Milan 20122.

The everyday elevated

Thirty stick chairs—both antique and newly crafted— and eight paper loom chairs illustrate the functional and decorative value of chairs.

Natural Materials

Chairs are embellished with natural fibres including raffia. Weaving techniques and colourful materials bring a playful interpretation to familiar designs.

Woven metals

The backs of stick chairs are tightly interwoven with silver or gold metallic foils by LOEWE collaborator Idoia Cuesta, combining a natural material with something otherworldly.

Artisan craft

New stick chairs crafted by the British firm Westonbirt Woodworks and paper loom chairs by Belgian weaving specialists Vincent Sheppard are adorned with leather cushions.

Unexpected materials

The project showcases weaving techniques in different materials close to the LOEWE lexicon, while others are completely unexpected.

Funghi phase

A playful mushroom motif proliferates; handcrafted in felt around the familiar form of an antique stick chair, or hand-painted across a paper loom chair.
