Women’s Fall Winter 2019 Publication
Our latest collectible hard cover Publication (#26) sees Japanese artist Fumiko Imano and her imaginary twin photograph Chinese model Fei Fei Sun wearing the Women’s Fall Winter 2019 collection inside a minimalist, marble-tiled space in the halls of the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
The intriguing atmosphere of the shoot is punctuated only by a backdrop of off-white drapes and a series of exotic ikebana flower arrangements – by house florist Amy Humphrey – presented on a plinth-like transparent table. The presence of the serene ‘living’ still lifes expands on the house’s recent fascination with ikebana, after commissioning specialist flower baskets for our Salone del Mobile project and hosting the Craft Prize exhibition in Tokyo’s Sogetsu Kaikan centre for ikebana over the summer.
Through its intricate codes of composition, ikebana can be seen as a search for balance between opposites, and by having Fei Fei playfully engage with the flower arrangements and make a series of creative poses, Fumiko captures the stand-out looks from the collection in their multitude of colour and textural combinations.
The Publication will be bound into a limited-edition, hand-numbered hardback book art directed by M/M (Paris).
