Paula’s Ibiza 2020 publication
The publication for LOEWE Paula’s Ibiza 2020 was shot by photographer Gray Sorrenti, with the clothes brought to a lively apex in a colourful, cacophonous New Delhi. The collection’s spectrum of colour and shape is suspended in images of bright young things at private parties in Dilliwalen havelis, riding scooters and tuk-tuks along rarely seen corners of the capital’s streets, BMXing on rooftops, and, as Jonathan Anderson describes it, “creating a feeling of bonding that is not imagined, but real”.
While the collection itself celebrates the breezy spirit of the Balearics, the joyful escapism of rave culture and a moment in time that saw the hedonism of these islands expand to influence subcultures across the world, the 2020 visual portfolio illustrates these things through the colour, energy and intensity of India. “Youth culture is booming in Delhi”, explains Sorrenti. “It’s like a flower; you plant the seed and all of the sudden it just pops out of nowhere.” From members of Delhi’s B-Boy subculture to free-runners flying through the air, this publication is a testament to life, youth and vitality in all its forms.
The LOEWE Paula’s Ibiza 2020 publication was produced as a hardcover photo book designed by M/M Paris and printed in a limited edition of 1,200 hand-numbered copies.
To ensure a better future for children in socially vulnerable groups affected by COVID-19, LOEWE will be donating 40 euros to educational projects for every product sold in the Paula’s Ibiza fashion collection between April and August 2020 in LOEWE stores and on loewe.com, starting with an initial donation of 500,000 euros.
