Mr. Kramer’s Dream House, an installation by Josh Faught at Casa LOEWE London

Coinciding with the arrival of FRIEZE London 2019, LOEWE presents an exhibition of works by San Francisco-based artist Josh Faught entitled Mr. Kramer’s Dream House, now on display at CASA LOEWE London.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1979, Faught is now an Associate Professor and Chair of Textiles at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco and Oakland. Faught’s artistic practice is rooted in craft, incorporating traditional textile techniques such as loom weaving and crocheting to create sculptures and installations that explore domesticity, remembrance and politics.

Some of Faught’s best known work includes BE BOLD For What You Stand For, BE CAREFUL For What You Fall For (2013) which celebrates the Neptune Society Columbarium in San Francisco where many gay men were buried during the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s.

On display at CASA LOEWE London between 1 – 6 October 2019, Mr. Kramer’s Dream House revolves around a life-sized reproduction of controversial AIDS activist Larry Kramer’s former Connecticut home. In and around the installation, Faught will present three hand-made textile works each exploring how we express ambivalence.
