CASA LOEWE Conversation #9 The unique hand-making practice of ceramist Jennifer Lee

The next installment in the CASA LOEWE Conversations series invites Jennifer Lee, British ceramist and winner of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2018, to discuss ceramics and her enduring approach to it with Sarah Griffin, the curator of Lee’s forthcoming show (9 July – 22 September) at Kettle’s Yard Cambridge, England.

The conversation coincides with this exhibition, Lee’s first solo show in a UK public gallery since 1994, extending this tribute to one of the UK’s finest and most acclaimed ceramists. Spanning a 40-year career, following a Masters at the Royal College of Art in London, Lee has finely tuned her artistic processes to produce ceramics that transform into breath-taking manifestations of the natural elements, landscapes and geological processes that forged them.

During the conversation the speakers will explore Lee’s journey as an artist, her unique handmade processes and broader questions of ceramics in the contemporary age.
