Spring Summer 2020 Campaign
Our new campaign, featuring Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton, has been released across Paris ahead of our Spring Summer 2020 Menswear show on Saturday 22 June. The triptych of images marks the latest chapter in the creative collaboration between LOEWE creative director Jonathan Anderson and photographer Steven Meisel.
For the portrait, Meisel has shot the 25-year-old British actor in a moment of introspection before going on stage. A celebration of drama’s mysteries, Heaton is depicted wearing an ankle-length white tank top and cotton poplin shorts as he observes his reflection in a mirror, his smeared lipstick imbuing an element of ambiguity as to the character he is about to become.
The portrait is accompanied by Meisel’s photograph of a tattooed fist grasping a grassy clump of earth against a grey background in the centre of the frame. Taken from a new series titled A Show of Hands to be released later in the year, the image improvises upon a symbol of protest for today’s turbulent times.
Completing the trilogy is a still life image debuting Spring Summer 2020’s new Large Puzzle Rugby. Handcrafted in Spain from calfskin leather, the new edition of the Puzzle is characterised by bold rugby stripes; both a nod to Jonathan Anderson’s family legacy, and an homage to the traditional iconography of the sport.
