180 years of LOEWE
In 2026, LOEWE turns 180, making it the second-oldest luxury fashion house in the world. From our origins as a small leather workshop in Madrid, the House has evolved into an international creative force that sustains a deep relationship with artisanship and leather excellence. From 1846 to today, we celebrate almost two centuries of craft as an art, imagination as a tool, and LOEWE’s distinct, playful spirit.
The campaign
To mark our 180th anniversary, Talia Chetrit photographs Julia Garner, Salma Abu Deif, Giselle, Kara Wai, Sissy Spacek, and Kara Walker, together with key pieces from our anniversary capsule collection.
Capsule collection
In our atelier outside Madrid, LOEWE artisans handcraft our designs with expert leather knowledge passed down from one generation to the next. Our special anniversary capsule collection includes signature LOEWE bags, with a playful lion motif nodding to the meaning of Loewe, the German word for lion.
Amazona 180
Amazona 180 was first introduced in 1975, coinciding with a new era of freedom and opportunity in Spain. For our anniversary, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez reimagine this House icon, taking up Amazona’s original spirit while embracing a renewed sensuality, softness, and ease.
Our history
The story of LOEWE begins in 1846 – before the lightbulb, before the telephone. We revisit our rich history in a new animated film narrated by Antonio Banderas.
