Marquetry in leather

Marquetry in leather is a technique that has been used in LOEWE since the Paris SS16 women´s runway show.

The advanced skills and fine attention to detail are demanded from LOEWE’s master artisans. Each leather piece is cut to precision by a special gas laser beam, that are then assembled by hand into a mosaic-like picture. All the cut pieces require the same thickness and are ironed flat so the final design is smooth and even.

Along with LOEWE´s leather accessories, the technique has also been employed on home wares like lamps, cigar boxes, and notebooks for the Salone del Mobile collection, launched in Milan in 2016.
